About us
Durham Scenic Workshops makes scenery for theatre, film, TV and the corporate and events sector. With nearly 20 years in the industry we are proud that everything we produce is of the best quality and we get right to the heart of the production design.
From our workshops in County Durham, we have clients whose needs range from magnificent Opera scenery to replica shipping containers. We are also really pleased to build for both local schools and amateur societies.
.... but we don't stop there....
With technical and design backgrounds, we provide technical teams for events too; from Riggers to experienced lighting and sound operators.
...and not forgetting the full office support we have here for production management and production support!
Meet the team
MIKE BROWN
Company Director
Mike has worked in the entertainment industry for nearly twenty years creating theatre and events for companies all over the UK and beyond.
In October 2013 Mike set up Durham Scenic Workshops in his home town of Durham after recognising that there is a real need for local producing theatres and companies to have somewhere that can build their scenery. This has built up to working for theatres and companies not just in the region but all over the UK.
HANNAH BENOY
General Manager
Hannah has been working professionally in the theatre and entertainment business for over fifteen years during which time she has gained extensive experience in producing and touring throughout the UK and Europe in drama, dance, physical theatre and children's theatre.
Hannah wrote and directed Durham Scenic Workshops productions of Elf's Christmas Adventure, Elf's Christmas Toys and Elf's Christmas Wish and is looking forward to producing more shows in the future.
The core workshop team is supplemented with a dedicated team of freelance carpenters, scenic artists, prop makers and electricians to work alongside us as the projects dictate.
